City Grind Espresso has been operating within the same two blocks of 5th Avenue in downtown Seattle for more than 20 years. We’ve been in our current location–inside the main lobby of Seattle City Hall at 600 4th Ave.–since the building opened in 2005. In December 2013, Charlie Redell bought out one of the original two owners, Rick Farley. And then in 2020 our former employee-Riley Dupris_took over fot Charlie. The other original owner, Jon Streeter, thankfully, is still here and continues as our morning barista.
In June 2016, we opened a small cafe in Henry Art Gallery on the University of Washington Campus. We serve the same great espresso drinks there along with an array of breakfast lunch options including sandwiches, salads, Sunbreak Breakfast Tacos and some delectable treats for those with a sweet tooth.
We believe that a strong community is the basis of everything we all do, so City Grind strives to be a focal point for ours. In practice, this means creating a comfortable environment where anyone and everyone can enjoy a great beverage, a tasty bite to eat or simply soak in the light streaming in the giant floor-to-ceiling windows at City Hall or discuss the impact of the latest exhibits at The Henry.
Along with the time you spend chatting with us or others around our cafe, we reach out to the City Grind community via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
